Android Nougat 7.1 Beta Update to Release October End; Google Pixel & Nexus Phones First Choice

Android 7.1 Nougat Beta update is expected by the end of October, at least that's what the latest reports on the Android operating system suggest. Once the update is released, it will be available to the recently released Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and also Nexus 6P and 5X. Other smartphones including the HTC 10 may also receive the update.

In fact, HTC 10 could be the first non-Google phone to receive the latest Nougat update by the end of October, reports MCrunch. Apart from that the HTC 10 Lifestyle, HTC One A9 and M9 will reportedly receive the update by the end of this year, supposedly in December. Samsung smartphones will have to wait till 2017 for the Android Nougat latest update.

As per NEUROGADGET, the first non-Nexus smartphone to get Android Nougat would be LG V20. A leak from Sony Slovakia revealed that the Android Nougat update will also be hitting Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia 9X in October.

The Xperia X and Xperia X Compact will be getting the update in November while the Xperia Z5 Premium, Z5 Compact and Z5 will receive it in December. As per The Verge, Google will keep on supporting Nexus products with its software updates and customer service.

For non-Pixel devices, some of the features included in Android 7.1 are Daydream VR support, Night Light and certain optimizations to display and touch responsiveness. Developers may also add shortcuts to their Android apps allowing users skip to certain features and sections of the software directly from their Home screen.

The Android Nougat update is also expected to sport new APIs. This will help users use their smartphones for telephonic configuration and multi-endpoint calling. The update will offer Android users image keyboard support and custom shortcuts.
