Double Fine productions unveiled their newest project today. "Dropchord" is a "music-driven score challange game" coming to PC and iOS "later this year."
While the iOS version will use standard touch and/or accelerometer controls, the desktop version will be designed to support the Leap Motion controller. Leap Motion, which you can check out here, is a Kinect-like sensor that adds sensitive motion controls to any PC monitor. According to Touch Arcade, the "Dropchord" team includes developers from "Kinect Party," one of Double Fine's Kinect-based efforts. Based on the Leap Motion demo, it seems like the controller will serve to allow PC players to use the same gesture-based control scheme as the iOS version, without all that messy screen-touching.
Double Fine is no stranger to iOS. In addition to time-based management sim "Middle Manager of Justice," Tim Schaffer and company plan to bring their trendsetting "Double Fine Adventure" to iOS whenever they finish it.
Double Fine will be showing off "Dropchord" as part of the "Leap Motion Experience" at SXSW this weekend and at PAX East later this month.
