'The Dark Tower' Release Date, News & Update: Trailer Leaks! Movie Will Have Modern Settings? Based On Jake's Life Before Mid-World?

A rough version of "The Dark Tower" trailer has leaked and gave a little glimpse of what fans are about to see in the movie adaptation. However, the teaser centers on the character of Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers and not to the big stars, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

"The Dark Tower" is based on Stephen King's books series with the same title. In the first novel, Jake is originally set in the time period of 1977. But, it looks like the movie enhanced its settings and made it more modern to 2010s era in New York City. Jake is first seen having his night visions or dreams that lead him to draw The Dark Tower, The Gunslinger and The Man in Black.

As he walks down his way, he encounters a "threatening figure," Gizmodo noted. Jake meets his therapists and confesses that he experiences nightmares every night seeing "fire, darkness and the man in black." He also witnesses millions of people dying in "The Dark Tower." "I feel like I'm supposed to do something, I don't know what that is," he said.

The Verge noted that the book version of "The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger," is based on Roland Deschain's (Idris Elba) perspectives. "The Dark Tower" movie should center on Roland's adventures, but it looks like it will be about Jake, as seen in the trailer. The sights of The Dark Tower images and his conversions out of the world portray his life before Mid-World.

"The Dark Tower" trailer gives only a few known moments based on Stephen King's writing. "I do not kill with my gun, I kill with my heart," Roland can be heard saying in the background. Evidently, the movie will have the epic touch of the author and Nikolaj Arcel's directorial. "The Dark Tower" is set to hit the theaters on Feb. 17, 2017.
