With every developer trying their damnest to jam AAA games onto iOS and Android, you'd think that all the sensible ideas have already been exhausted. And then Sega comes along, announcing one of the most obvious combinations in the history of handheld ports: "Sonic Dash," a Sonic-themed endless runner.
"Dash" was initially outed a week ago in a set of job listings at Sega Europe. At the time Sega confirmed to Kotaku that there was, in fact, a game called "Sonic Dash," but didn't elaborate on what kind of game it would be. Now the cat's out of the bag.
In the game, Sonic speeds along grassy Seaside Hill until he hits an enemy or falls in a pit or whatever pitfalls developer Hardlight manages to think up. According to Sega, the game will encourage players to "challange" friends and "beat their best times," so expect the game to feature the usual leaderboards and social hooks associated with endless runners.
"Sonic Dash" will be on Apple's App Store "soon."
