Nintendo NX remains a mystery even at six months before the presumed release date. No unveiling, press releases nor announcements so fans are relying on every bit of leaks and gossips to picture Nintendo's next-gen console.
Reddit is the best there is so far to peek under the hood. Good that moderators found a reliable source who claims to be working for a longstanding Nintendo retailer. Two-way verification was done to ensure accuracy as well. Meaning, the source writes details he remembers then Reddit rewrite them, but submitted again to the source before publishing.
Now for the Nintendo NX subReddit explosives, first is the possibility of 4K streaming. This feature is very likely because 4K is fast becoming the standard of gaming resolution anyway. However, site moderators believe that this capability doesn't refer to actual gameplay but playback of contents such as Netflix and others. Even so, it is safe to presume that 4K support to game titles can be tapped easily at later stage.
Since high-definition or if gamers are lucky, ultra high-definition is standard in game titles. Nintendo NX will utilize 900p high resolution using hybrid device capability, Gadgets 360 said. Though recent information revealed even better quality at 1080p resolution running at 60fps. Considering that a good number of game titles are still running at 30fps, gamers will enjoy seamless gameplay that 60fps provides.
Meanwhile, other claims said that Nintendo NX games will run through cartridge system. This is a possibility but remember that the device should contain a worthy processor to decompress cartridge data. 32GB or 64GB CF cards might do the trick depending on the game content. However, gamers are still skeptical about cartridge system because some titles are running at much higher size.
Now for the much awaited part of these rumors, Nintendo NX demo units will hit the stores sometime in February next year. There is a bundle option which costs $400 while the regular unit at $300. Gamers will be happy to know that there will be at least 4 giveaway titles upon purchase.
