Deep Silver is offering fans a glimpse at weapons and skins up for grabs for those who pre-order the upcoming zombie melee fest that is "Dead Island: Riptide."
The eye catching weapon seen above is the aptly named BBQ Blade, a MacGyver amalgamation that's part machete, gas tanks, and all around zombie annhilator. This brutal blade is part of the first pre-order bonus, the Survivor Pack DLC, which also offers up an XP booster, and a discount at the in-game shops. Because it's obviously tough economic times when the dead begin to walk the earth.
The second DLC, "Fashion Victim," offers new skins for all the characters, including new navy cook John Morgan. The DLC is meant for the game's co-op mode, since, as a FPS, you can't really appreciate your own player's new skins if you can't see 'em.
The pre-order DLC's will be available in the UK through retailer Game. The "Survivor" pack will be available for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 or for £3.99 on PlayStation Network and Steam. "Fashion Victim" can be nabbed for 160 Microsoft Points or for £1.49. It hasn't been announced yet how folks across the pond can get the DLC's, or even if they'll be available in North America.
"Riptide" takes place almost immediately after the events of the first game. All the survivors thinking they would ride the helicoptor into safety are in for a rude awakening. After getting caught in some choppy weather, the helicoptor is forced to land, and the survivors eventually make their way into the town of Henderson, on the island of Palanai.
New to the game will be different zombies, weapon types, defense hubs, and as the name alludes, the threat of the weather itself. Rain can limit player vision, and many areas can only be navigated by boat. The weather will also lead to environmental changes as well, so while one area was once nice and dry, a torrential downpour could flood the area completely later on.
"Dead Island: Riptide" is set to release on April 23rd in North America, and April 26th 2013 in European countries for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
