Deep Silver Confirms Release Date Of 'Metro: Last Light'

Originally set for March, "Metro's" new publisher Deep Silver issued a statement on Friday saying the game's release is now May 14th. Deep Silver's parent company Koch Media won the rights to the game in January after original publisher THQ went belly up.

We hope the move will give the team an opportunity to put the final touches on the game. As a recent tweet from the game's official twitter account put it: "The extra time allows 4A Games to add a final layer of polish to "Metro: Last Light" to make it as good as possible."

Koch Media's CEO, Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, echoed the sentiments, saying,  "The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of "Metro: Last Light" and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary."

Hopefully Deep SIlver can provide fans with a bit more insight into the game than THQ, whose PR campaign seemed to revolve around nonsensical trailers made up of live action flashbacks, rather than actual gameplay. Atmospheric? Sure. Informative? Not so much.

A sequel to 2010's "Metro 2033," which is based on the book of the same title, "Last Light" doesn't seem to be based on the book's sequel, "Metro 2034," but author Dmitry Glukhovsky was been working with the game developers, so there may be a few similarities here and there. At least, that was the case when THQ still headed up the project.

Hopefully we'll find out more in the coming months. The game is still slated for release on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
