WWE No Mercy is done and over with and the only match that deserves some lauding is the one between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt. This was a non-title match that was built from mind games but it was the (expected) intrusion of Luke Harper that added some spice to the card.
AJ Styles wins in controversial fashion
Even before the Triple Threat match got underway, the belief that AJ Styles would stay on as WWE champion, WWE.com reported. Seeing John Cena become a 16-time WWE heavyweight champion would have been something although this was not the pay-per-view seen proper for it.
Dean Ambrose could have one as well though everyone knows that the “Lunatic Fringe” is better off appearing without a title. In fact, it was seen as something that dipped his stock. It is likely that this storyline angle is far from finished and all of that should evolve this coming Tuesday on WWE SmackDown.
Simple road to retain Dolph Ziggler
With his career on the balance, the WWE opted to follow the simple way of retaining Ziggler. He won the Intercontinental title from “The Miz” who found himself all alone when the referee banished Marysse and some of the “Spirit Squad” members.
A rematch is likely to be set and all that could come as early as WWE SmackDown. Could the title change hands with Ziggler staying on with the WWE?
Luke Harper returns as expected
With Erick Rowan out due to injury, it hardly surprised many that Luke Harper would return to aid Bray Wyatt in winning against Randy Orton, WWE.com reported. It was practically a given when Harper was reportedly cleared to return to the ring.
Harper’s return also means that the ‘original’ Wyatt Family is likely to be complete (sans Braun Strowman) in the near future. As far as Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt is concerned, don’t be surprised if someone joins forces with the “Apex Predator” soon to even the odds.
