"FIFA 17" has been out for a while now, and if you're a fan of it at all, you would know that the best game mode to play is FIFA Ultimate Team. Where you put together a fantasy team of iconic football players and go head-to-head against other people's teams online.
These players are represented by digital trading cards, which you either have to get through booster packs or on the secondary market using real money. Games Radar set out to build the ultimate legendary team in "FIFA 17" and to find out just exactly how much real life currency you would need to put it all together. By figuring out how much the digital coins correspond to real money (which is actually around £0.00015219047 per coin—which can be acquired through winning matches, selling cards, and buying coins—which is also less than a single US cent). The whole team will cost you around $629.58 American, mostly because the best cards, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, are worth three-figure prices if you're going to try and buy them on the secondary market.
For reference, the most expensive cards in "FIFA 17" you'll need in the team are Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo ($244.87), Lionel Messi ($177.05), and Luis Suarez ($103.22) both from Barcelona. The rest of the team, which features a lot of Spanish players, are a lot less expensive than that despite their relatively high overall stats, so it's definitely a matter of who's a popular athlete on top of being good. The insane prices for those top three cards feel like you're paying for rare powerful "Magic: the Gathering" cards for the competitive scene.
