"Bombermine" could be the best reboot of a video game ever. What is "Bombermine," you ask? Why, it's a massive multiplayer online version of "Bomberman," of course.
Playable for free in your browser, "Bombermine" will throw you into a massive "Bomberman" level with literally hundreds of people. Try to blow people up. Don't get blown up yourself. There's not much more to it than that, but let's face it: Not every game needs a persistant leveling system, achievements, and microtransactions. Few remakes have the ability to take a classic game's gameplay and expand on it to make a new game, while also retaining the spirit of the original.
Also, random power-ups will turn you into random characters like NyanCat and Kenny from "South Park." I'm not saying that makes it a great game, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
It's far from perfect, though. Many users on the game's NeoGAF thread have complained about connectivity issues, servers going down, etc. Technically the game is in beta, so it's a work in progress. If you can get into the game, though. You'll definitely enjoy yourself... Assuming you like "Bomberman."
