Just when fans of "Penny Dreadful" series learned to live without it, reports have been surfacing online saying that there might be hope for "Penny Dreadful" season 4. The followers of the gothic-horror series braced themselves for the heavy ending of the series, knowing that there won't be a "Penny Dreadful" season 4 for them to follow.
The fans were extremely shocked with the announcement that "Penny Dreadful" season 4 will not be materialized. There were no signs of the finale as well as no heads up from the series that "Penny Dreadful" season 3 will be the last. The fans were truly disappointed and felt that the series had so much potential to run more than three seasons.
Although it seemed like the fans' desire for another season fell on deaf ears when "Penny Dreadful" season 3 ended, there are reports saying that "Penny Dreadful" season 4 is brewing. The writer of the gothic-horror series, John Logan, planned all along that once Vanessa dies in the series, the story ends - no more, no less.
"Penny Dreadful" Season 4 Lands New Writer?
John Logan fervently stood by his plan to end the series with Vanessa's death. David Nevins, CEO of Showtime, reportedly tried to convince Logan to extend and continue with "Penny Dreadful" season 4. Sadly, Logan seemed to be completely deadset on the three-episode fate of "Penny Dreadful" that's why the network didn't insist.
However, there might be a glimmer of hope for "Penny Dreadful" season 4 to come back if Showtime decides to find a new writer who will gladly continue the story of "Penny Dreadful 4." If that happens, Vanessa might either be brought back to life, or a whole new character will take the lead in the series.
With the theme of "Penny Dreadful" series, reincarnation or resurrection can easily be infused into the story if the producers badly want Vanessa's character to come back.
