A promotional poster for "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" has potentially outed the next entry in the franchise, Kotaku reports.
The poster shows a swashbuckling version of an assassin seemingly taking down the ship's entire crew, and features the name prominently. The new assassin's outfit does bear some resemblence to Connor's, prompting rumors that the new hero could be Edward Kenway, "Assassin's Creed 3" protagonist Connor's grandfather.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that a new "Assassin's Creed" has been in development, during an earnings call earlier this month. According to Guillemot, the new game will be "a major step forward" for the franchise, with a new protagonist and a new historical setting.
Meanwhile, around the same time, one Redditor claimed to have sneaked a peek at materials for the game. According to the poster, the slide said "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" would be released in "Holiday 2013." "Black Flag" was also a rumored title for "Assassin's Creed III" focusing on the game's naval battle sections.
Ubisoft may reveal the next "Assassin's Creed," "Black Flag" or otherwise, at a publicized event on Wednesday. According to the report, the poster should go on display starting Monday, March 4.
