A trio of fairly mundane but incredible-looking images show a space helmet made with Epic Games' next-gen development tools, Unreal Engine 4.
With the expected announcement of PS4 only a few hours away, the images are a tiny sneak peek of what gamers may be able to expect from next-gen consoles and high-end PCs. Epic's Unreal Engine 3 was used the lion's share of AAA game developers in the six years, especially among those designing for consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360.
According to Epic artist Jordan Walker, the images are to be featured in the newest issue of Edge magazine. Walker made the images on his own time, meaning the images are not related to any product Epic has in development. When Epic Games first unveiled Unreal Engine 3 they used a model of what would eventually become a Brumak, an enemy from the yet-to-be-announced Gears of War franchise.
In the end, they may just be pictures of a random space helmet. But what a helmet!
