'Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location' Latest News & Updates: Game's 'Delay' A Prank

The "Five Nights At Freddy's" franchise is one of the more amazing success stories in the independent video game industry. Its simple approach to gameplay backed up by an engagingly dark and deep backstory involving a haunted pizzeria, a deranged serial killer, and demonic animatronics made it really popular among players.

Series creator Scott Cawthon first announced the other day that the fifth game in the franchise, "Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location"—scheduled for release tomorrow—may be delayed. Cawthon made a post on the game's Steam page explaining that he's currently facing a dilemma about the game. He said that the game's plot is too dark even for him, making him "sick" sometimes when he thinks about it, and the options he has is either to release it tomorrow or to delay the game while he edits the plot to make it more suitable for children.

Turns out that this was just a prank, reports TechRaptor. Cawthon updated his Steam post to say that he was releasing "Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location" in parts, and the first one would be up on GameJolt. Upon downloading it, though, it turned out to be a refurbished version of Cawthon's old game, "Sit 'N' Survive," with a Freddy Fazbear head on the protagonist character.

Although the really dark "Five Nights At Freddy's" series is primarily aimed toward more mature players who want to know more about the story, Cawthon understands that a lot of young children still play the game. But on the other hand, the "it's so dark, we have to ban it" approach has historically worked in the history of advertising video games, and it would be up to Cawthon to make sure the game's story lives up to the hype. "Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location" drops for PC via Steam tomorrow.
