A series of leaked screenshots reveals that Epic Games may be developing on a real-time strategy Gears of War spinoff for the Kinect.
According to VGLeaks, these images were taken from an alpha build of a game called "Gears of War: Tactics." (That's most likely a "working title.") The screenshots show a four-person squad from a to-down perspective moving through a level and fighting enemies. One image includes a mission prompt instructing the player to "Fend off the counterattack until help arrives." Other shots feature an emergence hole and a "Hammer of Dawn" laser.
According to the report, the top-down strategy game is allegedly a Kinect exclusive: Players will direct their troops by drawing a path with their finger and using on-screen prompts to trigger actions.
"Tactics" will be Microsoft's second attempt to bring a Gears of War game to the Kinect. Leaked images revealed Gears of War: Exile, an on-rails shooter, in 2011. Though the game was never officially announced, former Epic Games director Cliff Bleszinksi confirmed the Exile's existance to Gamespot when he announced the game had been cancelled.
Neither Microsoft or Epic Games have officially confirmed or denied ownership of Gears of Wars: Tactics.
