LeBron James has already become a legend in basketball after his NBA Finals MVP performance that happened in June. A rare James rookie card was placed on auction for $312,000 which is said to be a record-breaking price tag for a signed trading card.
ESPN's sports business analyst Darren Rovell noted that an anonymous bidder bought the 2003-04 card signed by James with the NBA logo taken from the palyer's jersey when he was still a rookie. The trading card is the third most expensive basketball trading card topped only by 1969 Lew Alcindor Topps rookie which cost $501,900 and 1948 George Mikan rookie which had a $403,664 price tag, ESPN reported.
James card's record reportedly came as a surprise. An Associated Press report published last Saturday noted that the card may sell for as much as $200,000 which was already an unexpected amount given that the minimum bid was $50,000.
Rovell added that the card was sold right after the Cleveland Cavaliers had won the championship. James' new status was said to have a powerful effect on the very high price. Apparently, Goldin Auctions reportedly convinced the seller that the card could be flipped to gain a bigger profit.
In other news, the Cleveland Cavaliers MVP James has officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. James reportedly believed that Clinton and his foundation had a lot in common, Business Insider reported. The MVP noted the presidential candidate's tremendous work to improve public schools, support children's hospital, expand access to healthcare, among others.
Lebron reportedly believes that Clinton would make education a priority and address violence specifically stating African-American communities. He also added that Clinton can see past racialism towards unification.
LeBron James was also seen with fellow stars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade honoring professional athletes like Muhammad Ali. The athletes also renounced violence. LeBron set an example of courage to speak for what is right. Watch James endorsing Hillary Clinton for President:
