It's been a quiet year for Square Enix's "Final Fantasy 7 Remake." The game was first unveiled at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event, but since then, the developer hasn't shared any updates about its development. According to reports, Square Enix has decided to stay mum about the game as it wants all the attention to be on the upcoming game, "Final Fantasy 15."
Several news outlets noted that the reason why Square Enix chose to keep details under wraps is to avoid building they hype for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake." Speculations and expectations from fans will reportedly only serve as a distraction for the development team.
It was already confirmed by producer Yoshinori Kitase that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will follow the same style as Final Fantasy 13. "When the project was first announced, people were confused by its multi-part nature, but the goal is to structure it more like Final Fantasy XIII than an episodic series," Kitase explained to an interview with Game Informer back in April. Kitase also added that each part of the multi-part series will feature a full-scale game.
Now, it is widely reported that the first part of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" multi-series will be released in 2018, with the second and third parts arriving in 2019 and 2020, respectively. This has not been confirmed by Square Enix so fans should just take this information with a pinch of salt. In addition, the game developer is expected to remain quiet about any details of the game development.
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" serves as an updated version of the original game. However, fans can still expect the well-loved characters, locations, and narrative to be retained in the game remake. Cloud Strife will still be the playable protagonist, who ended up working for a terrorist group, the Avalanche. He still has the desire to protect the planet from the evil corporation Shinra.
