Xbox 720 Console To Have Siri-Like Speech Recognition System?

Microsoft is pulling out all the stops with the next generation Xbox if rumors are to be believed. Already, one has the ability to talk to their Xbox 360 via Kinect Voice, but what if the whole experience was much like Siri? That would be pretty exciting, right?

According to The Verge, Microsoft is gearing up to bring a speech recognition software to the Xbox 720 that has natural language controls similar to Apple's Siri, or Google Play Voice. It will support text to speech for those times when using the controller to type is too much of a pain, along with the option of simply saying "Xbox on" to awake the next Xbox.

The Verge source also went on to state that there will be some new Kinect interaction that would have the Kinect sensor detecting persons in a room and then automatically suggesting multiplayer games to be played. We're not sure how that would work, but if Microsoft is able to pull it off, the future might just be coming to our living rooms before 2013 comes to an end.

Users will also be able to ask the Xbox queries like "Where are my friends," after which the Xbox 720 will come up with a reply of some sort. How cool would it be to just sit there telling your next generation Xbox console what to do rather than flipping away at your controller? It would make gamers feel all powerful, and as if we are living in a sci-fi movie world where everything related to technology will do our bidding (and ultimately become our overlords).

Personally, I love what I am hearing. However, with all these neat speech recognition things, hopefully Microsoft has a plethora of games to show off to the public or else all hell would break loose. Get me excited Microsoft, failure to do so would have me throwing my money at Sony instead.
