"Shameless" Season 7 is one of the most anticipated releases for Showtime for the fall. After all, the show was one of the cable channel's first big comedy successes when it first premiered in 2011. But it looks like one of the show's big stars is leaving at the end of "Shameless" Season 7.
There is a rumor that Cameron Monaghan, who portrays Ian Gallagher on "Shameless" Season 7, will be concentrating on his film work instead. The former "Vampire Academy" actor has a slate of films coming. He will be starring in the horror movie "Amityville: The Awakening." Deadline also reported that Monaghan will be the lead star of the film adaptation of the young adult novel "Anna Dressed In Blood," which will be produced by "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer. It is also rumored he will be back in the second season of the PBS miniseries "Mercy Street."
Monaghan's rumored departure from "Shameless" Season 7 comes as he was confirmed to be returning to the Batman prequel series "Gotham," Comic Book reported. He played in a few episodes in "Gotham" season 2 last year and was praised for his rather disturbing and maniacal performance.
The 23-year old actor's alleged exit from "Shameless" Season 7 is not the first time he was rumored to be leaving the show because of his film commitments. Back in 2014, he had three films coming out in just the first half of the year and it was said to be interfering with the shoot for "Shameless."
"Shameless" Season 7 started its run last week in September 25. The episodes of "Shameless" Season 7 airs every Sunday, at 9 pm on Showtime. GameNGuide will be covering more on "Shameless" Season 7 in the coming weeks.
