Pokémon Go Plus has been released on Aug. 16 this year and the accessory will help to catch wild Pokémon on the loose and other Pokémon features via Bluetooth Low Energy(LE) to connect to handsets while players are on the go. The accessory may be as difficult to find as Pokemon but those who have acquired it have reported the top places to purchase the $35 accessory.
Pokémon Go Plus is a complementary accessory to the smash hit game "Pokémon Go" which has been downloaded by over half a billion users, beating "Candy Crush" as the biggest mobile game in US history. Nintendo made the wrist wearable device to complement the global positioning system (GPS) and augmented reality (AR) game. However, both the gaming console manufacturer and Pokemon Company have not mentioned stores where the actual accessory can be bought.
GameStop stores reportedly have the Pokémon Go Plus in stock. The official Nintendo UK store sets a limit of one unit per customer but have not reported quantity in stock, Polygon reported. US stores however do not have stock of the device. Pre-orders for the Pokémon Go accessory have already sold out on Amazon and GameStop. However, some third-party sellers on Amazon and eBay are selling the device for $100.
Meanwhile, Apple has announced that it will launch an OS update for Apple Watch that will include some of the features of Pokémon Plus to the smartwatch, Ars Technica reported. The release date is yet to be announced but is rumored later this month. It will be similar to Pokémon Go Plus that features Pokéstops, alerting nearby Pokémon, with the bonus of tracking steps which will be beneficial for hatching eggs.
Pokémon Go Plus vibrates when a wild Pokémon is nearby by tapping a button on the device to catch the creature. It is a teardrop-shaped plastic device with an opaque button in the center that will glow different colors depending on feedback it receives from the game like green when a Pokémon previously caught is nearby.
However, it does not say the exact location, yellow for new Pokémon and blue for Pokéstops that will add Poké balls, potions and miscellany to the inventory. A rainbow of colors means the attempt was successful and red if not. It comes with a clip on the back to wear on a belt, collar, backpack strap, or lanyard bracelet.
