Could Disney be making a standalone Star Wars film based on a diminutive and green Jedi master? Strong in the rumor mill about this one.
There is rumor that has been circulating for awhile that Disney is looking to do more than continue the saga of "Star Wars" with Episodes VII-IX and that the company is planning to create a standalone film.
Ain't It Cool News is reporting a new rumor that the standalone film will be based on every-one's favorite little green Jedi master, Yoda.
The movie and entertainment website reports, "The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate... I'm wildly curious for more details on the YODA film - would this be a young or old YODA tale?"
Ain't It Cool News also reports that it has heard rumors of a standalone film featuring Jabba the Hutt. The website writes it has "also heard tale of a JABBA story that Lucas has floated to some of his buddies. But word is YODA is first."
Now of course this is just a rumor, as Disney has not revealed any information about the rumored standalone films. We don't even know if the company is truly making films outside of the numbered iterations in the franchise.
Disney and Lucasfilm has recently announced that J.J Abrams is the director of the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII." The movie is slated for release in the Summer of 2015, where it will likely go against Disney's "Avengers" sequel and the proposed "Justice League of America" film adaptation from Warner Bros Studios.
