"Modern Family" season 8 is clearly living up to its title as it served as the very first TV series to cast a transgender character. The storyline of "Modern Family" season 8 bravely touched a sensitive issue about gender stereotypes, which got a wave of praises and "bravo" from the viewers.
Critics finally had something good to say about "Modern Family" season 8 as it bravely aired its episode tackling gender equality issues. The transgender character was brought to life by real-life child transgender, Jackson Millarker.
Jackson Millarker plays the role of Tom, who gets to be Lily's friend. "Modern Family" season 8 didn't dwell too much on Tom's backstory. The audience only knows that Tom was called "Tina" before.
Lily so innocently accepts Tom as her friend, without really caring about whether he used to be "Tina" or whatever. "Modern Family" season 8 clearly tugged a string in the LGBT community and hopefully, Tom will be seen in future "Modern Family" season 8 episodes.
Parents' Take On LGBT Friends
Lily's friendship with Tom aka Tina was also an issue for her parents, Cam and Mitch. "Modern Family" season 8 realistically and so delicately showed how Cam and Mitch tackled Lily's friendship with Tom. In the end, Cam and Mitch patted themselves at the back for having raised such a sweet and open-minded daughter.
Parenting crisis knocked on Mitch and Cam's door when they overheard Lily calling Tom a weirdo. They initially thought that Lily was making fun of Tom's identity. However, when they decided to get to the bottom of it, they realized that Lily and Tom's weirdo lingo was about something else.
Ryan Case, the director of "Modern Family" series earlier posted a snap of her and Jackson Millarker. Clearly, Case was thrilled to have Millarker on the show. Hopefully, Tom's appearance in "Modern Family" season 8 won't be the last. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more "Modern Family" season 8 spoilers, news and updates!
