Netflix's "Narcos" may have lost its lead character, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) in the sophomore season but the show will go on for two seasons more. Fans will continue to witness the fight against drug cartels in "Narcos" Season 3 and season 4. A release date for the third season has yet to be confirmed, but it's already expected that the upcoming installment will highlight a different drug ring, the Cali Cartel.
Important members of the Cali Cartel were already introduced in the previous seasons. Viewers got to meet Miguel (Francisco Denis), Gilberto (Damian Alcazar) and Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) but the fourth member, known as "Chepe," has yet to make an appearance. Since the Cali Cartel's control over the drug scene was rather short, it is expected that their story will end in "Narcos" Season 3.
Show executive producer Eric Newman already revealed to Entertainment Weekly that "Narcos" season 3 will definitely have a shift in focus. It was hinted that "Narcos" Season 3 will tell the story of how Cali Cartel began. Pacho Herrera could also be the main villain in the upcoming season.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Newman also revealed that "Narcos" Season 3 will serve as a "schematic sequel," in which Escobar's influence and the efforts of the authorities to make sure the notorious drug lord is caught have changed the drug scene. The showrunner also shared that there could be a lot of the old cast members returning for another round of the series although specific names have not been revealed yet.
"Narcos" Season 3 is likely to follow the release date of previous seasons, which is in August or September. In this case, fans may get to see new episodes in those months in 2017. However, nothing has been confirmed yet so viewers should just wait for the official announcement.
