UPDATE - US Release Dates Given for All Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn for PlayStation 3
Ah, progress. It's a lovely thing, especially when it applies to the long sought after Skyrim DLC for release on PlayStation 3.
All the Nords in Tamriel, or New Jersey for that matter, can take comfort in knowing that all the DLC episodes are another step closer for release, as they've all passed the certification process from Sony of America. Both Bethesda and Bethesda's head of PR Pete Hines tweeted the official announcement, saying, "PS3 1.8 Update and all 3 DLC have passed Sony America cert . We're also finalizing certification for EU. Waiting to hear the exact dates."
After months of waiting, Bethesda informed PlayStation gamers earlier this month that their patience would finally pay off, and would get their hands on all Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, sometime next month. With this latest announcement, it looks like they're timing is fairly accurate.
According to Bethesda's official announcement, "Dragonborn will be the first add-on arriving on PSN in February. Hearthfire will release next, followed by Dawnguard, and all three should be out in February. The 1.8 update will also release, just prior to Dragonborn. We'll keep you posted as release dates get finalized both on our end and with Sony for each and its various languages. Last but not least, each one will be 50% off during their launch week on PSN."
The first DLC, Dawnguard, offers about 10 to 20 hours worth of gameplay, and gives players the option of joining the titular vampire hunting Dawnguard and taking on the vampire lord Harkon in his quest to extinguish the sun, or you can join Harkon and his kin, who grant you all the powers to be one with the night.
The second DLC, Hearthfire, didn't offer a story or additional characters so much as it let players customize their various homes. The DLC allows players to "create a living home. With this official add-on to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more. Use all-new tools like the drafting table and carpenter's workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into structures and furnishings. Even transform your house into a home by adopting children."
The third and latest and most expansive DLC, Dragonborn takes place on the island of Solstheim, which offers up plenty of new areas for players to explore, including new towns, dungeons, wilderness. Of course, new quests will be offered all so you can ready yourself before going up against your "deadliest adversary" yet, the first Dragonborn.
Bethesda is currently waiting to confirm dates from Sony, but as sure as we get word, we'll let you know exactly when all of the DLC will release.
