"Destiny: Rise of Iron" recently released, giving players new content in the first-person shooter game. With the fourth and final DLC now available, the focus will soon turn on the franchise's sequel, "Destiny 2." Not much has been said about the next game except that it's expected to launch sometime in 2017. However, there are new reports suggesting what the game will be about.
New rumors have surfaced stating that "Destiny 2" will soon be available on PC, aside from being a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title. It should be noted that the original game is exclusive only to consoles. However, the new rumor from NeoGAF member benny_a, citing a friend working at game studio Activision, stated that the game will indeed arrive on PC.
Kotaku's Jason Schreier also corroborated the information given by the NeoGAF user. It was also mentioned in the report that "Destiny 2" will completely be a new game that will start from scratch. A source familiar with the game development explained how expansion "The Taken King" serves as a reboot for the original game but "Destiny 2" will be an "overhaul to fix big things."
"Destiny 2" is also said to feature a new activity model called "play-in destinations," which will bring significant changes to in-game functions of the original game. In addition, it was also reported that Vicarious Vision and High Moon will be working with Activision to develop the game.
Kotaku also reported that current characters may not be featured in "Destiny 2." However, it remains to be seen if these characters meant important NPC and player characters. Given that it was mentioned that the sequel will have an overhaul to the story, it might just be possible that players will see new characters that will star in the game's story.
For now, readers should note that sources who provided the information mentioned in the report wish to remain anonymous, which is why reports should be treated as a rumor. Activision and Bungie have yet to provide a statement addressing these rumors. Stay tuned for more "Destiny 2" news and updates!
