Activision has announced a double XP weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The event runs from Jan. 25 to Jan. 28 across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U and Windows PC.
Here is the official announcement from Activision's Call of Duty Community blog:
"We're less than a week away from the January 29th release of Revolution, the first DLC Map Pack for Black Ops 2. To get you ready for the action that's to come, we're hosting a Double XP weekend, beginning on Friday, January 25 (10am/PST) and running through Monday, January 28 (10am/PST). Whether you're an Xbox 360, PS3, PC or Wii player, warm-up your skills, all while earning twice the amount of XP.
Of course, you'll need to free up some time to earn all of that Double XP, so you should think about calling in your own Replacer. Start making your arrangements now because the next few days will be busy: Double XP, a ton of new DLC."
The double XP weekend comes just before Activision releases the latest downloadable content add-on for Black Ops 2. The Revolution DLC map pack is releasing on Xbox Live this Tuesday Jan. 29 with the PlayStation 3 and PC version launching at a later date.
The new DLC will feature the first weapon to be added to the game since its release, the Peacekeeper. The new weapon is a hybrid of a submachine gun and an assault rifle.
The Revolution DLC map pack includes four new multiplayer maps called Hydro, Grind, Mirage and Downhill. The game's Zombie mode will receive the new 'Die Rise' map and the Turned game mode where players will take control of zombies that are attempting to eat a human player.
Call of Duty Black Ops II is now available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and Microsoft Windows PC. You can check out our review round-up for the game here.
