EA Sports has announced that 100,000 gamers have played an online game in NHL '13's Hockey Ultimate Team mode during the NHL's Opening Weekend. The company also announced that each HUT team in NHL '13 has been awarded two HUT Gold Packs for redemption.
Here is how to redeem the HUT Packs from EA Sports:
- Enter Hockey Ultimate Team Mode
- Select 'Store'
- Find the Gold Packs with an Orange 'Deal' Sticker.
- Select the packs and you'll notice that they are redeemable for zero EA Pucks.
- Redeem both packs
- Smash all other HUT teams!
For those participating gamers who have earn the gift from EA, the HUT Gold Packs must be redeemed by Sunday, Jan. 27 at Noon Pacific Time.
EA Sports has also announced the HUT team of the week, which features NHL star players including last year's Art Ross Trophy winner Pittsburgh Penguin center Evgeni Malkin and Chicago Blackhawks right winger Marian Hossa.
Players can pick up any Gold Pack in NHL '13 Hockey Ultimate Team and will have a chance at special edition Team of the Week items including players Malkin, Hossa, Edler and Vanek. These special edition item features players with boosted rating.

LW: Vanek/Huberdeau
RW: Hossa/Selanne
LD: Edler/Campbell
RD: Pietrangelo/Shattenkirk
G1: Halak
G2: Harding
All NHL '13 gamers that created a HUT team between Jan. 22 and Feb. 26 will get a Premium Gold Jumbo Pack on Feb. 28 that can be used to bolster their Hockey Ultimate Team. EA Sports will also be giving away a custom NHL Replica Jersey to two randomly selected grand-prize winners.
For those gamers who are unfamiliar with the feature, Hockey Ultimate Team allows you to create fantasy team in a sports world without career lengths or a salary cap. Gamers can acquire and assemble top players from around the world and then play against other players online.
