Reveal Trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations Shows Off New Monster

A new reveal trailer has been posted by Capcom, showing that as good as Resident Evil: Revelations looked on the 3DS, it's shaping up to look even better with the promised HD visuals.

The game's signature, RE 4 regenerator styled "Ooze" enemies are thoroughly present, but we get a sneak peek at the new enemies coming to the console port just before the trailer ends. Check it out below!

Hopefully, the game's notably different atmosphere from the late Resident Evil 6 should strike fans as more of a throwback to the survival horror genre the franchise helped pioneer, instead of the action heavy game it seems to have become of late.

Besides the new enemy and revamped HD graphics and lighting, console ports are also getting a new selectable character for the Raid mode (the infamous Hunk), new weapons, custom parts, and a harder difficulty.

Set in 2005, Resident Evil: Revelations tells the story of B.S.A.A founders Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine on one of the organizations very first missions. Gameplay wise, it's quite similar to Resident Evil 4 and 5, but received praise for trying to bring back the "survival horror" aspect that later games seem to be missing.

While zombies are notably absent, replaced by "Ooze," Revelations does see the return of an even more horrific version of Hunters. The majority of the game takes place aboard the luxury cruise liner, the Queen Zenobia, which features interiors highly reminescent of the mansion from the first Resident Evil. Like the first title, gameplay is also similar, focusing more on item management and puzzle solving, than the run n' gun gameplay the series seems to have devolved into, but keeps the camera style popularized in recent games.

Resident Evil: Revelations is planned to release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U this May.
