If you've been by Crytek's Facebook page for Crysis 3 lately, then you'd know that the company is teasing some sort of "big" announcement, set to be revealed this Wednesday. It's anyone's guess as to what this news could be though, be it some kind of DLC, pre-order bonus, the game coming to an additional platform, etc, but most bets seem to be on a beta being announced.
EA had posted a FAQ for a Crysis 3 beta on the official site, only to quickly removie it within a few hours. The posting did note that a "The Crysis 3 Beta will be live from January 29th through February 12th for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 and in English only." Also, since Crysis 2 had a well received beta for the game's multiplayer mode, it stands to reason that Crytek would release a beta for the next game.
Trophies and achievements were recently revealed for the title, complete with plenty of pop culture references. You can go here to check 'em out.
The game picks up in the year 2047 in New York City with Alcatraz still occupying the late Prophet's Nanosuit 2.0; Prophet's role in the story is said to be greater than in Crysis 2, according to Crytek. The area is thick with vegatation and remains of dead Ceph technology. Meanwhile, a large Nanodome created by CELL appears over New York City. The purpose of the Nanodome is to protect the city from any remaining Ceph forces and to keep any humans out; it also serves as a cleansing solution to any Ceph pollution. Another primary purpose of the Nanodome, however, is for CELL's attempt to conquer the world through weapons and technology.
Crysis 3 is scheduled to be released Feb. 22, for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Check back Wednesday to see what Crytek has up their sleeve for Crysis 3.
