"The Winds of Winter" is perhaps the most anticipated book this year, leaving fans on the edge of their seats on when exactly it'd be released. While most fans are hungry for any update about "The Winds of Winter," author George R.R. Martin recently teased about the possibility of making a "Game of Thrones" prequel. Now fans fear that this could further delay the release of "The Winds of Winter."
'Game Of Thrones' Prequel
"Game of Thrones" won the Outstanding Drama Series in this year's Emmy Awards, winning for two consecutive years now. The author of the book where the HBO series was based on discussed the future of the franchise in a backstage interview with Deadline. George R.R. Martin hinted that he has done thousands of pages that led up to the "Game of Thrones" books. After hearing this, fans were alarmed to thinking that a possible prequel to the "Game of Thrones" may further delay "The Winds of Winter" release.
"I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to 'Game of Thrones,' so there's a lot of material there and I'm writing more," Martin said. However, he assured fans that he is currently working on the two remaining books for the "Game of Thrones" series. The possibility of a prequel is still something that he is pondering on.

'The Winds Of Winter' & 'A Dream Of Spring'
George R.R. Martin further said that he is currently working the last two books of the series: "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring." This could only mean that the prequel to the "Game of Thrones" is not guaranteed. The author is still fully occupied in finishing "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring." Fans are in doubt if their favorite writer can release the book this year as there are only four remaining months left.
Fans can only wait until George R.R. Martin announces the release dates for "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring." However, he assured fans that the last two season of "Game of Thrones" will be bigger and better. Do you think "The Winds of Winter" will be released this year?
