Sony will be releasing three different models of the PlayStation 4 this coming November and this might confuse some potential buyers as which one to get. This dilemma did not exist prior to this date and considering that most predecessor models or other consoles in particular only come in one model.
The BitBag gives a closer look into each individual PS4 models so as to give potential buyers an idea of how to choose the right model. The three models that will be available this coming November will be the original PS4, the PS4 Slim, and the high end PS4 Pro.
All three models come with the same PlayStation 4 8-core AMD Jaguar CPU while both PS4 and PS4 Slim have AMD Radeon (1.84 TFLOP) for its GPU. The PlayStation 4 Pro on the other hand makes use of an AMD Radeon (4.2 TFLOP) for its GPU, more powerful than the other two. Both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 slim have either 500GB or 1TB for its storage while the PlayStation 4 Pro just has 1TB.
The PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro come with an Optical Out feature while this is not available in the PlayStation 4 slim. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 slim make use of an HDMI 1.4 as its AV out while the PlayStation 4 Pro makes use of HDMI 2.0. 4k Streaming and 4k Gaming is just available to the PlayStation 4 Pro and not to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Slim. There are two USB 3.0 slots in the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Slim while there are three of them in the PlayStation 4 Pro.
As for Maximum Power Consumption, it is 250W for the PS4, 165W for the PS4 Slim and 310W for the PS4 Pro. The PlayStation 4 is priced at $349, the PlayStation 4 Slim at $299 and the PlayStation 4 Pro at $399. While one can get basic packages for the PS4 in each of three models, it could be worth getting it while bundled with some games.
