A Sneak Peek at the Boss Fights in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Judging from a new trailer that's just been released, Platinum Games really seems to have a handle on this new Raiden. Gone is the cartwheeling super spy, replaced by the katana slashing cyborg.

A new trailer that's making the rounds shows off some of the boss fights Raiden will be getting himself into, and for good or bad, they're absolutely NOTHING like past Metal Gear fights. Gamers will remember certain standout fights of the series, like Big Boss crawling through a Russian jungle for hours, stalking a century old sniper in a truly epic duel. Nothing like that in Revengeance though. Take a look for yourself below.

Players get a chance to try things out for themselves when the demo is out Jan. 22.

Players will be able to grab some skins for Raiden, including one as OG cyborg Grey Fox, by pre-ordering Rising from Game Stop. Players should be able to grab even more DLC beyond the outfits seen in the trailer, as Rising producer Yuji Korekado has confirmed that the game will have DLC. If that's not enough, you could also pick up the Collector's Edition of Revengeance, which offers the game, soundtrack, steelbook case, and a sword lamp...thing.

Set four years after Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Rising sees Metal Gear's resident cyborg Raiden slice n' dice through metal as well as men. Since his last appearance, Raiden has since gone to work for the private military and security company, Maverick Security Consulting Inc.

Though there will be some stealth elements, what Rising's creative producer, Shigenobu Matsuyama describes as "hunting stealth," Metal Gear Rising is obviously all about the action. Armed with a high frequency blade that can cut through steel like a hot knife through butter, players will use a sophisticated cutting system to command Raiden to hack n' slash through hordes of enemies, and make french fries four different ways.

Appearances by past Metal Gear characters such as Solidus Snake should also serve to flesh out Raiden's backstory as a child soldier, and his development into the weapon of war he's become.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will release for PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 Feb. 19. Check out the english trailer here!
