Aliens: Colonial Marines Goes Gold, Gets TV Spot

Gearbox announced today that Aliens: Colonial Marines has gone gold for PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. Apparently there's still some tweaking needed for the Wii U version.

As noted on Gearbox's official site:

"When we first announced the release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines back in May 2012, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford noted that the development had progressed to the point where we could see the end and be very confident in both our vision for the game as well as our launch date.

Today, we're proud to announce that we hit every one of those targets, with the game's gold status indicating that all parties have examined the release candidate and signed off on the code as final and suitable for manufacturing, after which the game will be shipped to retail and propped to digital networks in time for launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come February 12, 2013!

Now's the time to make sure you've got your pre-order locked in as participating retailers are offering in-game bonus content -- check with your local retailers and visit this page for more details.

Stay frosty, the next chapter in the Aliens story is almost here. Will you be able to fight the fear?"

In addition, you'll probably start seeing ads for the game while you zone out to the boob tube. Check it out below if you haven't seen it already!

As the spot notes, GameStop pre-orders will get to play as famed "Aliens" marines Hicks, Hudson, Drake, and Apone in the game's multiplayer. It was rumored, though not confirmed that Mark Rolston and Al Matthews would reprise their roles alongside Lance Henriksen and Michael Biehn. Bill Paxton did not, though, that's to be expected when you have three wives.

Steam pre-order bonuses for the PC version include a Sonic-Harpoon Artillery Remote Projectile (or S.H.A.R.P.) stick rifle, a weapon referenced in the same movie, though not seen, that fires explosive darts.

Aliens: Colonial Marines
will be available for Windows PC, Xbox 360, Wii U, and the PlayStation 3, when it launches on February 12.
