'Overwatch' Release Date, News & Update: Brawls Limits To Be Lifted In Fall? South Korea First Region To Launch Regular Regional League On Sept. 30

"Overwatch" brawls have reportedly been too restricted that its game developer has thought of tweaking it up a bit. The new brawls are set to arrive before it snows in the US. Also, an "Overwatch" tournament will take place beginning Oct. 7 with a 28-team league called The Overwatch APEX.

The "Overwatch" brawl for this week was called "Tanks A Lot," which limited hero choices to the tank characters. In the past, the brawl was restricted to the brothers Genji and Hanzo, or forcing everyone to play support, or choose women characters.

Last week, the brawl was restricted to an all Eichenwalde map because it was new. However, a more notable brawl was said to be the time when Lucioball, the Rocket League-inspired sport mode, was on, Kotaku reported.

Meanwhile, not all "Overwatch" brawls are restricted. The first brawl called the "Arcade" had no restrictions on heroes. In fact, there were no restrictions at all. In "Arcade", players received double health, lightning speed ultimate charge and the ability to cool down more quickly.

The "Overwatch" Game Developer Blizzard reportedly took note of all the players' complaints against the limited brawls. "Overwatch" Game Director Jeff Kaplan said in a forum post that gamers feedback have been heard and that new brawls are under way which is expected to roll out in fall or early winter, Battle reported.

Meanwhile, CJ E&M Corporation Esports Broadcaster and Tournament Organizer OGN will be hosting a 28-team "Overwatch" league, called The Overwatch APEX, that will begin in Oct.7 and will last all throughout December. The league will include a prize pool of 200 million South Korean Won (KRW), which is around $177,000 USD. It will feature 16 teams from the professional level, with 12 coming from South Korea and four from North America or Europe.

The "Overwatch" tournament will feature American Caster Erik "DoA" Lonnquist and "League of Legends" caster Christopher "MonteCristo Mykles. South Korea is the first region to launch a regular regional league, officially licensed by Blizzard.

North American television network Turner Broadcasting will host the tournament on Sep. 30. Watch "TANKS A LOT!" "Overwatch" Weekly Brawl here:
