Deep Silver Offers the UK a Special Edition with Dead Island: Riptide - Zombie Bait Edition

After announcing a special edition for North American audiences, Deep Silver is set offer an equivalant for their UK fans, announcing the Zombie Bait edition for Dead Rising: Riptide. However, given the nature of the included statue, they may have already gone too far.

As you can see from the picture above, the focal point is what gives the collector's edition its particular title, and is a bit unsettling. Maybe "WTF Edition" would've been the more apt name.

The bust of the bust itself measures a foot high, and 7 inches wide, and is hand-painted. Deep Silver describes it as the remains "of one of Palani island's zombie infected."

"We wanted to provide a unique collector's edition that was utterly 'Dead Island' and would make a striking conversation piece on any discerning zombie gamer's mantel," said Deep Silver's Sales and Marketing Director, Paul Nicholls. But even true gorehounds may have trouble displaying such a statue when it resembles one of the world's creepiest sex toys. It also serves as quite unexpected, given the game's history of rather emotive trailers.

Apart from the statue, the Zombie Bait edition includes the Steelbook case, collectible artwork cards, and a weapons mod pack.

More of a continuation than a direct sequel, Dead Island: Riptide continues the adventure of the Banoi survivors, joined by a new playable character, former Navy cook John. The group make their way to the nearby island of Palanai, and the new explorable and zombie infested town of Henderson. As the name indicates, most of the environment is heavily flooded. Joining the undead as a new threat will be the weather of the environment itself. Torrential ran can limit player vision, and many areas can only be navigated by boat. The weather will also lead to environmental changes as well, so while one are was once nice and dry, a torrential downpour could flood the area completely later on.

And with new environements come new enemies, incuding a new Grenadier type. You can read more about the game's new environment and enemies here.

Dead Island: Riptide releases Apr. 23 in North America, and on Apr. 26 in Europe and the UK, for Windows PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
