The showrunner David Hollander revealed that Ray and his family will take its fans on a "relatively blank page" in "Ray Donovan" Season 5. "Ultimately, it felt like where the story wanted to go is Ray and his family being in a new [more close-knit] place," he told TVLine. The writer said that the next installment would feature "a strong, complicated, dangerous, loving, slightly criminal family" in Los Angeles.
This family would be now working close together in "Ray Donovan" Season 5, as told by David Hollander. Moreover, the director is also asked if Ray is now at peace with his religious demons. He explained that he has now accepted his real personality and considering his family as his deity. Now that Ray is a changed man, he is now accepting help from the others and he and his family is set to have a grand Hollywood story.
'Ray Donovan' Ending In Season 5?
Meanwhile, some think that "Ray Donovan" Season 5 will be the end of Ray and his family's story. "I'm beginning to seriously think of an endgame, I think it's essential," David Hollander told Hollywood Reporter. He also described the crime drama series was not originally designed to feature what Ray does has now. So, he is choosing between the show's style or its story about who Ray is to his family, to his self and where is he leading.
But no matter what happens, David Hollander disclosed that Ray has to say goodbye to his viewers. However, he will make sure that he will never meet his death. He explained that the protagonist's farewell should mark in the minds of his fans by giving what they want and need to see that will surely satisfy them.
