Reggie Wayne caught two touchdown passes, including the game winning 57-yard grab in the fourth quarter, to lead the Indianapolis Colts to a 31-23 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon in the opening round of the AFC Playoffs.
Colts' rookie quarterback Andrew Luck threw for 265 yards Sunday, and his 7-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne on first-and-goal late in the first quarter gave the Colts a 7-3 lead over the Ravens.
The Ravens relied heavily on running back Ray Rice, who rushed for 166 yards in the game and one touchdown. The Colts' pass defense rattled quarterback Joe Flacco early in the game and Baltimore struggled to get their passing game going for the rest of the day.
Baltimore quarterback Flacco, who went 17-for-36 passing for 188 yards and one touchdown, lost a fumble late in the first quarter that set up Indianapolis' second touchdown of the period and gave the Colts a 14-6 lead going into quarter number two.
After a ghastly start in which Flacco was 2 of 10 passing, the quarterback known as "Joe Cool" steadily led the Ravens downfield. He completed a quick screen pass to Rice on third down and made two first down throws to Anquan Boldin before connecting with Torrey Smith in the back of the end zone to make the game 14-13 late in the half.
Luck answered right back and led the Colts down the field in the final two minutes of the second quarter to setup an Adam Vinatieri 36-yard field goal as the clock hit triple zeros.
The Colts opened up the third quarter with a 14-3 run. Running back Vick Ballard broke a 35-yard run for a touchdown on Indianapolis' fifth play of their first second half drive. Ballard rushed for 78 yards in the game with the one touchdown. Wayne grabbed six receptions for 115 yards and two touchdown catches.
Baltimore scored a late fourth quarter touchdown, but could not catch up to the Colts. Indianapolis advance to the divisional round of the AFC playoffs
