Netflix's "Bloodline" may have a steady fan base but unfortunately for these avid viewers, the Kyle Chandler-starred series will end after "Bloodline" Season 3. Despite series producers hoping for the story to continue for five or six seasons, Netflix has announced that it's the end of the line for "Bloodline."
Cindy Holland, the streaming service's vice president of original content, shared a statement to Variety confirming the fate of the series. "'Bloodline' season three will be the show's final season," Holland said. Besides getting canceled, "Bloodline" Season 3's episode list has been reduced from 13 to 10, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed.
According to speculation, the "Bloodline" Season 3 may have become more expensive after Florida amended its program for entertainment tax incentives, resulting in the reduced number of episodes. In addition, there were rumors that Sony and Netflix had a rift, which affected the fate of future seasons of "Bloodline," but THR's report clarified that there is no tension between companies.
Although some fans may be sad about the cancellation of the series after "Bloodline" Season 3, some media outlets claimed that ending the show can be justified since the series has not been performing well in rankings, plus season 2 didn't impress. Despite this, Indiewire noted that it's actually good for the audience. The story is described to be too long and that the story has been lengthened too much. But now that the new season will consist of 10 episodes, it would be interesting to see how the writers will wrap up the story.
As for what's expected to happen in the new season, speculations have it that Danny Rayburn's (Ben Mendelsohn) son, Nolan (Owen Teague), will be one of the main highlights. It is rumored that Nolan will follow in his father's footsteps. This means that Danny's influence will linger on even after his death. A premiere date for "Bloodline" Season 3 has yet to be confirmed, but new episodes are expected in 2017.
