Capcom apparently isn't too keen on bringing some of it's older games to Nintendo's Wii U, despite the opportunity it could proivde to give certain games more polish, or add on a few bells and whistles.
When a asked about the idea of bringing over Resident Evil 6 or Lost Planet 3 to the Wii U at Capcom Unity, Capcom's Senior Vice President Christian Svensson responded that Capcom's policy "With regard to WiiU, in general we're looking forward, not back so late ports are generally not on the table."
Given most peoples' opinions of the "survival horror" franchise's latest chapter, that's probably a smart move, but still a likely a disappointment for both fans and the Nintendo team as well. Trying to get an early jump on the holidays by debuting right around Thanksgiving, the console's library had to rely plenty on editions of games that most had already played months before, like Batman: Arkham City, Darksiders 2, and Mass Effect 3.
With other companies passing on the Wii U entirely for new game releases, like Kojima Productions with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for example, Nintendo's going to need quite a few more exclusive titles from third parties, like Bayonetta 2, if its going to survive. Between its early debut aimed at getting a head start, and with talk really starting to heat up for both Sony and Microsoft's new consoles, the Wii U may unfortunately have found itself sandwiched into a tough spot.
While Capcom may have passed on the console for the upcoming Lost Planet 3, it still plans on releasing Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii U.
