It's still more than a year before "Star Wars Episode 8" premieres, but there are already great expectations about the followup to "The Force Awakens". Fans wonder if the Rian Johnson's film will be anything like "The Empire Strikes Back"? Adam Driver has just teased on the possibility by making a comparison between Episode 5 and Episode 8. But does this mean Kylo Ren will also lose a hand in the movie?
Adam Driver Compares 'Star Wars Episode 8' To 'The Empire Strikes Back'
Adam Driver recently spoke about "Star Wars Episode 8", stating that Rian Johnson is taking the sequel in the right direction. The actor confided that it was a good idea to let the director take control of the screenplay since it allowed him to know more about Kylo Ren. Oh, and Driver also revealed that Johnson worked on the script while "The Force Awakens" was being made. Finally, he made the "Empire Strikes Back" comparison.
"It’s similar to how 'The Empire Strikes Back' has a different tone," Adam Driver told Collider. He then explained that Episode 5 is usually viewed as being the darker than other "Star Wars" movies. However, the Kylo Ren actor also stated that "Star Wars Episode 8" stands alone when it comes to tone.
"It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear," he continued. Adam Driver went on to say that Rian Johnson is "not dumbing anything down for someone" in "Star Wars Episode 8". Well, OK then, but will Kylo Ren get his hand chopped off in the new film?
Will Kylo Ren Be The Third Skywalker To Lose A Hand In 'Star Wars Episode 8'?
Luke Skywalker got his hand sliced off in "The Empire Strikes Back". Years later, Anakin Skywalker lost his hand (and legs) in "Revenge of the Sith". So will Ben (Skywalker) Solo part ways with any appendages in "Star Wars Episode 8"? Fans will need to keep a close eye on Kylo Ren when the sequel premieres on December 15, 2017.
