Charlie Hunnam might not be coming back in "Pacific Rim 2", but that doesn't mean that the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's scifi flick will lack any star power. The film already has "Star Wars Episode 8" actor John Boyega and has probably already brought in Scott Eastwood for a mystery role. But is it possible that Raleigh Beckett will be replaced by someone from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2"? Has Steven S. DeKnight cast "The Walking Dead" alum Michael Rooker to take Hunnam's place?
James Gunn Teases Michael Rooker Possible Casting In 'Pacific Rim 2' As Charlie Hunnam Replacement?
It looks like "Pacific Rim 2" needs a special actor to take over for Charlie Hunnam, but has the film found one in Michael Rooker? The speculation started when "GotG Vol.2" director James Gunn tweeted about his new film "The Belko Project", which is being considered "a Cocktail of Murder and Laughs!" The post got an unexpected response from Steven S. DeKnight, who sort of revealed that one of the actors in the movie will be in "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom".
So looking forward to this. And someone in this cast just happens to be in #PacificRim2... https://t.co/T6OtGXb5Ew

James Gunn, ever the ham, teased on the possibility that the mystery cast member who will replace Charlie Hunnam could be Michael Rooker. In case that the "TWD" star was the person in question, the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" helmer issued a warning to Steven S. DeKnight.
If it’s Rooker BACK OUT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE! https://t.co/5xMdB9Uw5H — James Gunn (@JamesGunn) September 12, 2016
Although the "Pacific Rim 2" director simply laughed off the possible spoiler, fans immediately started wondering if Michael Rooker will be part of the film instead of Charlie Hunnam. The man who plays Yondu in "GotG Vol. 2" might not be as pretty as the "Sons of Anarchy" actor, but he certainly has the acting chops and comedic timing that could make the sequel more entertaining.
Charlie Hunnam has officially confirmed that he will not be a part of "Pacific Rim 2" due to scheduling conflicts. Although Michael Rooker's casting was not immediately confirmed by James Gunn or Steven S. DeKnight, the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" star would be an awesome addition to "Maelstrom". The film will premiere on August 4, 2017.
