Players are reporting problems with The Walking Dead over at the Telltale forums.
The reported problems are ranging from freezing, making the quick time events borderline impossible to complete, to the inability to start Episode 2 after completing Episode 1, with forum members claiming game just restarts Episdoe 1. The problems seem to persist, despite a patch released by Xbox Live to solve the issue.
Telltale is aware of the issue, and says the problem is limited to players who own a 4G Slim model of the Xbox 360. However, other users are reporting similar problems on different 360 models. Telltale promises to "provide more information soon." But until that time comes, players who have yet to buy the retail edition might be better suited for downloading the episodes instead.
The first episode is curently free to download from both Xbox Live, as well as iTunes, and will be until the end of the year (which is considerably sooner than it sounds).
According to the official synopsis, "The critically acclaimed debut episode of The Walking Dead begins at the outset of the undead apocalypse. Lee Everett awakes into a world collapsing into anarchy as society fails to deal with the undead plague. Seeking refuge, he stumbles upon Clementine, an eight-year-old girl whose parents are missing. Lee takes Clementine under his wing as they seek safety from the walkers all around them."
While the TV show really helped put the series on the map, the game is based on the Robert Kirkman comic. Players will encounter characters seen in the comics including Glenn, Hershel, and others, as Lee and Clementine make their way through parts of Georgia.
Gamers can download the rest of the episodes for $4.99 each from Xbox Live or the iTunes Store. Another five episodes are planned for a future release.
