One of the best first-person shooters of the year, 2K Games and Gearbox's Borderlands 2 is currently on sale for 33 percent off of its regular price of $59.99 on Xbox Live's Games on Demand.
The game is $39.99 and is part of Xbox Live's Countdown to 2013 sale. Today's deals also feature the digital version of the original Borderlands for only $9.99 and Borderlands 2's Season Pass reduced from 2400 Microsoft Points to 1800 MS points, according to Xbox Live's Major Nelson's Blog.
The Borderlands series takes place on the planet fictional alien planet of Pandora and let players take on the role of vault hunters. Borderlands 2 feature four different vault hunters from than the previous game, who guided by a mysterious entity known as "The Guardian Angel" to a vault where they confront an alien abomination known as "The Destroyer."
Gearbox recently announced the next downloadable expansion for the game called Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt. The new DLC will release on Jan. 15, 2013 and features a new villain.

"What starts off as a relaxing hunting expedition with Sir Hammerlock soon takes a sinister turn as our Vault Hunters stumble across a new villain intent on restoring the legacy of Handsome Jack. The DLC will cost 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live and $9.99 on PlayStation Network and Windows PC. But Xbox 360 gamers, who take advantage of today's sale can pick up the game's Season Pass and save almost 50 percent off the total cost of purchasing all of Borderlands 2's DLC.
