Russell Westbrook cut to the basket, slipped past the defender and made a layup with three seconds left to give the Oklahoma City Thunder a 107-106 win over LeBron James and the defending NBA champion Miami Heat on ABC's "Christmas Day Basketball Special."
The Heat had trouble stopping Westbrook all game, as he scored a game high 32 points. Kevin Durant scored 26 points and Kevin Martin added 19 as the Thunder bounced back from a Thursday night loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Durant was off early in the game and went 2 for 10 during the first half play with most of his point coming during a couple of key stretches late in the game.
Oklahoma City also outrebounded the Heat 42-35 and also shot better from the charity stripe hitting more free throws in 10 more attempts.
James led Miami with 29 points, 10 rebounds and seven assist, while Dwayne Wade added 21 points. Chris Bosh scored only eight points for the Heat.
The Heat led by as many as 13, but the lead was trimmed to five with James and Wade on the bench in the fourth quarter. James was in foul trouble late and Wade was out due to an injury.
The Thunder cut the deficit by going on a 14-2 run, before Westbrook made the game winning shot.
Chris Bosh missed a 10-footer and Ibaka rebounded the ball with 10 seconds remaining. Following the timeout by Oklahoma City, Westbrook was able to speed past Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers. He went straight to the basket and hit the uncontested layup.
