The latest firmware update for the PlayStation 4 is about to go live online, and marks the first update since the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim were announced. This update, codenamed Shingen, will come with a wide array of new features which include a revamped user interface, folders and a whole lot more. Just after the PS4 itself is set to be replaced with a faster, slimmer, and enhanced model, it looks like the better experience is about to get much deeper than what appears.
VG247 reported that amongst the most interesting features that this new update will bring is the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) functionality to all models of the PS4. This came somewhat as a surprise just last week since many fans anticipated the advanced display feature to be exclusively available to the PS4 Pro. IGN also reported that a music section will be added to the Quick Menu, and some exclusive features for the PS4 Pro which include 1080p streaming and live broadcast.
The What's New and content info sections has also been refreshed by Sony with the 4.0 update, resulting to a different manner of presenting information. For those who have the PlayStation 4 Pro, players can now transfer their saved data through a wired LAN connection. Update 4.0 brings with it the long awaited addition of a Folders feature to the popular content launcher and library for the PlayStation 4. With this new feature, players can now organize and arrange their games and apps neatly and access them more conveniently.
As for the Quick Menu, it is now more customizable and more accessible as players would not even have to exit their games to use it. It has also been made better with a load of new functionalities which include a Music section which allows a player to play Spotify without having to open it. For the PS4 Pro, the 1080p streaming will be available for Remote Play on PC/Mac and other compatible devices as well as for Share Play.
With all these new features at bay, it is sure that the PS4 will be better than ever in just a matter of time. With what has been given, it looks like Sony has not been showing signs of slowing down in terms of giving its fans the gaming experience they deserve.
