PlayStation VR is set to launch in October 2016. Players can opt to purchase either the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle, or the independent headset. There will also be a PlayStation VR demo disc with every purchase, featuring 18 game and experiences.
PlayStation Blog revealed that the 18 PlayStation VR games in the demo disc are "Allumette" (Penrose), "Battlezone" (Rebellion), "DriveClub VR" (SIE WWS), "Eve: Valkyrie (CCP Games), and "Gnog" (KO_OP). Also included are "Harmonix Music VR" (Harmonix Music Systems), "Headmaster" (Frame Interactive), "Here They Lie" (SIE WWS), "Job Simulator" (Owlchemy Labs), and "PlayStation VR Worlds" (SIE WWS). Also available are "Resident Evil 7 Biohazard - Kitchen Teaser" (Capcom CO., LTD.), "Thumper VR" (Drool), and "Rigs Mechanized Combat League" (SIE WWS). "Tumble VR" (SIE WWS), "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood" (SIE WWS), "Wayward Sky" (Uber Entertainment), "Rez Infinite" (Enhance Games) and "Within" (Within) are in the package too.
Sony previously promised that the PlayStation VR will feature up to 50 games upon launch. A number of titles are apparently exclusive to the system. The headset looks good so far, just several days before the huge launch. Players can access the menus and features on the PS4 via the headset and use cinematic mode to play the games or apps in a simulated 16:9 screen.
GameSpot wrote that a demo disc with the new PlayStation VR is actually a great way to introduce the technology to players. The introductory titles are expected to help gamers adjust to virtual reality and avoid motion sickness. PlayStation VR units that will release in European regions will also feature their own set of demo titles. After trying a demo game, PlayStation VR players can opt to download the full version from the PlayStation Store.
PlayStation VR is set to release on Oct. 13, 2016 and will require the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Camera to properly function. Certain games will require the Move controller. The PlayStation VR Launch Bundle includes the headset, PlayStation Camera and two Move controllers. The solo headset will retail at $400, while the Launch Bundle will cost $500. More updates and details on PlayStation VR are expected soon.
