Mass Effect Developer BioWare Taking a Break for the Holidays

With Christmas a week away and time for holiday shopping winding down, it's time to figure out plans for the Christmas break.

While tradition dictates the season is meant for spending time with your loved ones, we all know it's really for sitting back and playing all those new video games.

However, just like most of us will be taking some time off, so too is Mass Effect developer BioWare. They announced on their blog that from Dec. 21 to to Jan. 4, the BioWare offices will be closed. As such, there won't be any N7 weekends during that time. However, they're still making a contribution to the fans for the holidays.

According to the blog post, "we've prepared a little something for you as our way of wishing you a happy holiday season!"

BioWare's holiday cheer for Mass Effect 3 includes:
- 3 Kits Unlocked (Drell Assassin, Batarian Slasher, and Volus Protector)
- All Hazard Maps Available
- Two new card packs to help fill out your collections

Granted it's not a multiplayer event like this past weekend's Operation Alamo, but you have to respect BioWare for going above and beyond the call of duty for the fans, especially after all the blame they received in the wake of the Sandy shooting. Besides, it's still a much better way to spend the holidays than going to see "Parental Guidance."

BioWare currently has the next Mass Effect title under development. A supposed interview with Mass Effect 3's producer pegged a tentative release date for the game as sometime between 2014 to mid-2015, but the information was eventually "deemed to be obtained from an inaccurate source and NOT an official Bioware or EA interview response."
