Ezra Miller's "The Flash" solo movie has finally found its Henry Allen in Billy Crudup. Although the casting might be a bit surprising for fans of The CW series "The Flash", one of the show's stars had no problem with DC Extended Universe's version of Barry Allen's father. John Wesley Shipp, who plays the character in the TV series, has just reacted to the casting news.

DC fans were understandably excited when Billy Crudup was reported to be in negotiations to appear in Rick Famuyiwa's "The Flash" solo movie. It was later confirmed that the "Almost Famous" star will portray Henry Allen opposite Ezra Miller's Barry Allen. Some fans immediately thought Crudup might have a hard time taking on the role after John Wesley Shipp completely nailed it in The CW series. However, the DCEU actor had an unlikely champion on social media.

John Wesley Shipp has just reacted to a Twitter post stating that Billy Crudup "has big shoes to fill" if he will play Henry Allen in Ezra Miller's "The Flash" solo movie. However, the star of The CW's "The Flash" responded enthusiastically to Crudup's casting in the DCEU film, saying he "can't wait to see their take on it."

John Wesley Shipp may be playing Henry Allen (and now Jay Garrick) in The CW's "The Flash" TV series but he has originally portrayed Barry Allen in the 80's. Billy Crudup has also appeared in a live-action adaption of the DC graphic novel "Watchmen", where he was Doctor Manhattan.
