Andy Dalton threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green with 35 seconds to go as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-24 on NFL Network's Season Finale of "Thursday Night Football."
The game started with an explosive play, as Adam Jones returned Philadelphia's first punt 51 yards to the Eagles' 15 yard line. But Trent Cole sacked Dalton on a third-and-1 that forced a Josh Brown field goal.
On Cincinnati's next series, the Eagles secondary gave up a 34-yard reception to Green and a 20-yard reception to tight end Jermaine Gresham. Green then made a touchdown grab in the middle of the endzone, as he was sandwiched between two defenders to give the Bengals a 10-0 lead.
Dalton finished 27-of-38 for 278 yards with two touchdowns, an interception and was sacked four times. BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 73 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown. Green finished with 102 receiving yards.
Philadelphia rookie quarterback Nick Foles was 21-of-34 for 199 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions and one fumble lost. Fellow rookie Byrce Brown continued to impress as he ran for a 119 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns.
Alex Henery's 35-yard field goal ended the shutout early in the second quarter, and Nnamdi Asomugha returned a Dalton interception 25-yard to set up a Foles touchdown pass to Jason Avant. The teams went into the locker room with the score tied 10-10.
After the teams exhanged score for the better part of the third quarter, the Eagles went ahead 24-20 late in the fourth quarter on a three yard rushing touchdown by Brown.
But, Philadelphia could not stop the Bengals' Green on the final scoring drive of the game. Green caught six passes for 42 yards before catching the gaming winning 24-yard touchdown pass from Dalton.
The Eagles got the ball back with about 20 seconds left in the game, but Foles fumbled the ball on the first play of the series after being hit by Geno Atkins.
The Bengals' 27-24 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles helped and their playoff chances and set-up important divisional games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens to end their season.
