When Crysis 3 releases it will be one of the most technically advanced titles to release on the current-generation of video game consoles, according to studio CEO Cevat Yerli.
In a recent interview with Videogamer, Yerli said Cyrisis 3, the finale in the sci-fi first-person shooter series, is utilizing the current generation of consoles to their maximum capabilities.
"Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles," Yerli told The VideoGamer.com during a recent press tour of the game. "There is absolutely not even 1 percent left."
Yerli says that most games are even comparable to the previously released Cyrsis 2 and that no game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on the current generation of consoles.
"No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out," Yerli told The Videogamer. "Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I'm not talking about art style - art is subjective - but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I've yet to see a game do that still today."
The studio CEO went on to claimed that the Halo and Gears of War franchises cannot even compare to the technological achievements of Crysis 3 and Yerli is willing to battle against competitors to prove it.
"Any day I will take a battle against Gears and Halo, whatever, the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior," Yerli told The Videogamer. "With Crysis 3 we're pushing that to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond."
Yerli says that the PC version of the game is already next-generation and that it is two levels beyond Cyrsis 3 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"That's why we said [two years ago] that Crysis 3 is next-gen ready already," Yerli said. "We did that without knowing the specs [of next-generation consoles], but it's not going to be much more than what we have done so far. And it turns out we were pretty much right."
Crysis 3 will release in February 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Here is the game's official synopsis from publisher Electronic Arts:
"New York City lies in ruin. Skyscrapers once thought to be timeless monuments crumble and give way to vines. Clamoring streets that filled with rush-hour traffic now host the banks of a river. An underground system designed to support millions has rotted into caverns as deep and dark as anywhere on Earth. A nanodome looms overhead, keeping the eye of the outside world out and an untold danger in. This is where you strike.
Nature has reclaimed what was once the world's most iconic city and you'll have to adapt if you want to survive. Stalk your prey through a shadowy 5th avenue rainforest or wade waist-high through an urban swamp. Cover ground quickly over the midtown grasslands or seek cover in a deep, etched Wall Street canyon. You'll need to plan for any situation in the wreckage of the city. With the dome overhead and alien technology on the loose there's no telling what challenges you'll face.
So, you better be ready to use every situation and environment to your advantage, because you won't get a second chance. It's a jungle out there."
